Building for the Future is a parent led charity providing activities, support and therapy for children with disabilities and/or additional needs and their families.
Our charity was founded in 2007 by a group of parents of disabled children with the aim of launching a community centre for disabled children and their families in Wokingham, Berkshire and the surrounding areas.
After seven years of fundraising alongside caring for our children, “Our House” was opened in 2014 by the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Six years on, over 600 children and young people with disabilities come through our doors over the course of a year.
Activities such as Saturday clubs, after school clubs, holiday activities, physiotherapy and a youth group and more take place regularly at the fully accessible centre. Our facilities are also in demand by other organisations to hire Our House to run events and services during the times that our activities are not taking place.
Our House is a unique accessible play centre where families can meet and all children are celebrated. With a range of facilities, including soft play, a sensory room, teen chill-out zone, PCs, gaming and free play area, at Our House, disabled children can relax, have fun and be truly valued and accepted for who they are. In Order to ensure that we are truly inclusive, we do not charge families to access our services.
